Back to Cairo

It felt great to sleep in! We ate our last breakfast on the boat and met Tarek before heading to the airport for our flight back to Cairo. It was a quick flight...we even got to see the step pyramid as we were approaching Cairo. Tarek said it was the first large stone building ever built. We also lucked out and the great pyramids were on our side of the plane. They were quite a view from the air as well!

We said our goodbyes to Tarek, and we were transferred to the hotel (Le Meridian). We were hooked up with another awesome room...top floor with a balcony overlooking the pyramids. We could lay in bed and look at them this time!

After eating some lunch, Allison went back to room to get some rest and I headed down to the pool to enjoy a beer a read my book.

Later that night we ate dinner outside at a Nubian restaurant where we had great lamb kabobs. After dinner, we stopped at a shisha cafe. We found some open stools and drank a beer while smoking apple flavored shisha (tobacco) from of a hookah (water pipe). You could tell we were the amateur hookah smokers in the room. It was great fun and something we definitely had to try! We headed up to our room and flipped through the Arabic television channels before falling asleep.
