Three Great Pyramids and One Tiny Pigeon

We slept in again, ate some breakfast, and returned to the room to relax in the air conditioning. The entire day was free before heading to the airport around midnight for our 3:15 AM flight to Amsterdam.

We decide to walk over to the pyramid complex again to take more pictures. As exciting as it was to see them again, the constant hassling by camel drivers wanting to give you a ride "at no charge" and the guards that want to show you something got a little old. Even with those small annoyances though, it was hard not to enjoy the splendor of the pyramids from different angles than our previous visit.

We managed to get a couple of hours of sleep back at the hotel before waking up and packing for the Europe leg of the trip. Our plan was to store our souvenirs and one of our backpacks in the Amsterdam airport so we didn't have to lug around all of our stuff in Munich. Once the bags were packed, we headed down the street to a restaurant named Felfela, which was recommended to us. I had lamb kebabs, and Allison decided on stuffed pigeon, a delicacy and classic Egyptian dish. It was interesting, like dark meat chicken, stuffed with rice and "minced meat" that had a sweet, cinnamon flavor.

We headed back to the hotel, showered, and met our driver outside at midnight. On the way to the airport we passed through the Cairo suburbs. It was fascinating seeing all the people out eating and socializing at this hour. The driver said everyone was breaking their fast for Ramadan.

We checked in at the airport and enjoyed people watching until we boarded the flight. We lucked out and had a free seat between us so we were able to stretch out and catch up on some sleep.
